Something you should be immediately aware of, is that you must never click on your own ads when using Google Adsense on your site.
This is particularly easy to happen, if you have broadband or if you have a shared computer - remember to block Google Adsense, if your children click in your Goggle Adsense ads it will LOOK to Google Adsense as if YOU had clicked on that ad - i.e. it will have originated from your system.
Changing the Google Adsense code is another area that is a no-no. The Google Adsense terms and conditions for participation in the Google Adsense program expressly forbid this - you change the code at your peril - Google Adsense has sophisticated tracking capabilities - you will be found out and barred from the Google Adsense program.
With Google Adsense, there is a limit to how many Google Adsense ad units you can place on any of your websites pages. Currently, January 2006, the limit is three Google Adsense ad units, one Google Adsense link unit and two Google Adsense for Search boxes....... you should of course, check that this information is current and up to date before you place ANY Google Adsense advertising on your pages.
Another important condition for web publishers of the Google Adsense program is that you do not run competitive contectual text ads on the same page as Google Adsense text ads. Again you need to check the Google Adsense terms and conditions for full information. Other search boxes from Googles competitors are also not allowed if you have a Google Adsense for Search Box on your page.
You only need one Google Adsense account, no matter how many websites or web pages you publish. Once you are accepted as a publisher into the Google Adsense program, you will have access to tracking and monitoring tools that include, for instance, URL Channels. This Google Adsense tool allows you to monitor the progress of your advertising campaigns on multiple websites.
It is essential that you only place Google Adsense advertising code on content pages that you publish. The Google Adsense terms ands conditions expressly forbids the placing of Google Adsense code on parked pages, search result pages, and pages that are created just for advertising. Content is king - place the Google Adsense code on content rich pages you publish and you will do well. Also be aware that Google Adsense is not allowed on MP3, Video, News Groups, and Image Results pages.
Google Adsense disapproves of manipulative behaviour in publishing web pages to attract traffic - manipulative behaviour is not fully defined by Google Adsense but includes such things as keyword stuffing, the use of automated software, multiple web pages with substantially the same content and any pages published just to support advertising.
Remember, as a web publisher participating in the Google Adsense program you want to aim for good, high-value content for your web visitors. Once you have this, Google Adsense will fit in very well with your published pages.
